Muggy day ahead; heat index could hit 105 in Austin

National Weather Service

Wednesday forecast for Austin: The Austin area can look forward to a soupy Wednesday as humidity levels are projected to be especially high.

While the high temperature forecast Wednesday is 93 — spot on for normal this time of year — the humidity will push the heat index as high as 105, the National Weather Service said.

At 6 a.m., temperatures across the area were already in the upper 70s and felt like the mid-80s.

There is essentially zero chance of rain Wednesday and no chances of rain have been forecast until Saturday, when there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

On Tuesday, the area saw some isolated storms, but most parts saw no rain. Rollingwood saw 0.31 inches of rain while 0.25 inches was recorded near Spicewood Springs Road at Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360), according to the Lower Colorado River Authority.

The overnight low is 75 degrees. Thursday’s high should be about the same, though drier conditions are expected, the weather service said.
