Thursday forecast for Austin: We can look forward to near-record warmth and another day of sunshine on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.

The outlook calls for temperatures to peak near 80, only a few degrees shy of the daily record of 83 for Feb. 11. Light southwest winds will become south-southwest breezes of 5 to 10 mph in the morning, the weather service says. Clear skies continue at night, as the low dips to around 49.

The string of spring-like days continues Friday with more sunshine and a high near 77. It will be mostly clear at night, with a low around 48. Clouds may increase ahead of a cold front that arrives overnight and will bring north-northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.

Once the weak cold front passes, Austin-area temperatures will cool down on Saturday and top out near 71, still above normal, but cooler than in previous days. The north-northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph will become east-southeast in the afternoon, the weather service says.

Clouds start to gather Saturday night ahead of Valentine’s Day, which could see some showers. The increased cloud cover will keep nighttime lows higher than normal to around 53.

On Sunday, patchy drizzle is expected before noon, forecasters say. The rest of Valentine’s Day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 72 and very windy with southerly breezes of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts of up to 20 mph, according to the weather service. At night, mostly cloudy skies persist with a low around 56.

Monday’s outlook calls for an uptick in temperatures, with a high near 73, and another day of sunshine.
