Friday forecast for Austin: Those days of near-record heat and near-freezing nights may be behind us as the weather outlook for the next several days calls for continued sunshine, but temperatures will be much closer to the normal, with highs in the low 60s and lows near 40, according to the National Weather Service.
We’ll see a preview of the mild weekend weather in Austin on Friday, which will be sunny with temperatures topping out around 61 and bottoming out around 40, the service says. Around midnight, a weak cold front will produce a 20 percent chance of showers and prevailing winds from the south-southeast will shift and become west-northwest winds.
Saturday kicks off the weekend with sunshine and breezes of 10 to 15 mph from the north-northwest. At night, the clear skies continue but winds begin to calm as the nighttime low falls to around 37, forecasters say.
Sunday could see temperatures rise to an above-normal peak of 69 degrees under sunny skies, but the low at night stays close to normal around 41.
Monday’s temperatures return to normal levels with a high near 63 and a low around 39. But windy conditions will include northerly breezes of 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph, the weather service says.
The uninterrupted streak of sunny days continues Tuesday as temperatures are expected to reach near 66.
