Friday forecast for Austin: What a day we should see in the metro area! That is, once the morning fog that’s been plaguing morning commuters in Bastrop and Fayette counties lifts.
On Friday, we can expect the loveliest weather we’ve seen or will see in a while, including sunny skies and a daily high temperature about 10 degrees above normal around 70, according to the National Weather Service. But at night, the forecast calls for increasing clouds ahead of a cold front, with a low around 42.
The weather service says the cold front arriving Saturday will include a 20 percent chance of showers under mostly cloudy skies and drop daily high temperatures back to a near-normal high near 60. At night, expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 36, forecasters say.
Sunday should see a return to sunshine as the high tops out around 59. North wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon. At night, skies should be mostly clear, with a low around 38.
Austin will likely celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day under sunny skies but with chilly air as the daily high temperature will only reach 57. The nighttime low will drop to around 41.
